Asante Akyem North: Green Ghana Project launched [Photos]

The Municipal Chief Executive of Asante Akyem North, Hon. Francis Oti Boateng together with some leaders of the Forestry commission yesterday launched the Green Ghana project in the municipality.

The occasion which was held on the campus of Agogo State College in Asante Akyem Agogo was graced by the Kontihene, Nana Kwame Nti of the Agogo traditional area, Nana Oppong Asante Wirenmponhene of Juansa, Nana Afum Amish Agyarko Kontihene of Domeabra, the Coordinating Director of the Asante Akyem North Municipality, Francis Adu Boateng, Deputy District Forestry manager Mr. Gideon Yaw Wole and Municipal Education Director Mrs Mildred Ama Kwakye Agyapong and other Heads from the various schools in the municipality.

Addressing the dignitaries, the MCE Hon. Francis Oti Boateng said the project is to help the country recover it’s lost vegetation.

The Kontihene of the Agogo traditional area, Nana Kwame Nti represented the traditional leaders to plant the very first seedling within the municipality followed by the MCE who represented the president to also plant the second seedling.

He was then followed by the Director of the Asante Akyem North Municipal Directorate, Mrs Mildred Ama Kwakye Agyapong.

Speaking to Salt Fm, the Deputy District Manager of the Asante Akyem North Forestry Commission, Mr Gideon Yaw Wole expressed delight at the level of patronage the project have received and called for more people to patronize.

The Green Ghana project will plant 5 million trees across the country to help restore better climate conditions.
