The Blackstars beat Qatar 5-1 in their second friendly match in preparation towards their upcoming qualifiers in November.
Prior to today’s match, CK Akonnor’s side lost to Mali on Friday after a terrible performance.
Five changes was made to the starting eleven that 3-0 lost to Mali. Joseph Aidoo, Iddrisu Baba, Samuel Owusu, Gideon Mensah and Razak Abalora were given the nod to start.
Tariqe Fosu bagged the first goal for Ghana before Qatar equalised on the 44th minutes. Upon resumption into the second half, the goalkeeper of Qatar was injured by Jordan Ayew. This led to the substitution of the goalkeeper for their second choice goalkeeper.
Andre Ayew bagged the second goal for Black Stars from a lose shot from Thomas Partey reached him.
The Black Stars took full command of the game as they placed with tenacity and determination. A wonderful through ball from Thomas Partey located Samuel Owusu, who then put in at the back of the net. Andre Ayew added another goal from a cross from his brother, Jordan Ayew and made it 5-1.
Jordan was substituted for Caleb Ekuban on the 85th-minute mark. With great composure, Caleb Ekuban made an instant impact by heading a ball into the back of the net to seal the victory for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Two assists from Jordan Ayew, two goals from Andre Ayew, and another two assists from Thomas Partey. It’s a game well planned by Charles Kwabla Akunnor, the head coach of the Black Stars.
