Supreme Court discharges contempt case against Dominic Ayine

The Supreme Court has discharged the contempt case against former Deputy Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine.

The Court discharged the case today, 25th February, 2021.

Dr Ayine during a press conference said the decision of the Supreme Court not to allow the petitioner reopen his case to subpoena chairperson of the 1st Respondent Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, was “predetermined”.

He later apologized to the Supreme Court over his contemptuous comments against the justices of the high court regarding the ongoing election petition hearing.

The apex court on Monday ordered Dr Ayine  to go and retract comments he had publicly made after he wrote a letter to the court apologizing for passing such a comment.

On Monday after the proceeding, Dr Ayine stood on the same platform and apologized to the Supreme Court and Judges for his comments.
