SPEEDING VEHICLE KILLS POLICE MAN ON DUTY AT AFIENYA

An on-duty police man was run down by a speeding vehicle at a check point on the Afienya-Prampram road in the Greater Accra Region.

The officer whose name was given as Constable Emmanuel Lamptey was patrolling a check point on the Afienya-Akosombo road when he was knocked down by the speeding Toyota Tundra with registration number GR 7530-13.

Emmanuel Lamptey was rushed to the Tema General Hospital but died on arrival.

Meanwhile, the police have identified the driver of the vehicle as Benjamin Abasah.

According to him, he was heading towards Accra from Ho when the accident occurred.

He is currently in police custody aiding in investigations. Also, the accident vehicle has been impounded by the police in Afienya.

Constable Emmanuel Lamptey was on duty the night he died with two other police officers, Inspector Daniel Adama and Corporal Raphael Kommeh.

Constable Emmanuel Lamptey is survived by an expectant mother.
