Deputy Ashanti regional police commander, two others interdicted over Islamic SHS clash

The Ghana Police Service have removed and interdicted the deputy Ashanti regional commander DCOP Kwasi Akomeah-Apraku and two other officers of the service for their involvement in Monday’s clash between the police and students of the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi.

The two other officers are ACP George Ankomah and ACP Alex Cudjoe Acquah of the Suame divisional command.

The police announced this after the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare visited the school to calm tempers after the incident.

At least 25 students were injured when the police fired warning shots and used pepper spray to disperse them while protesting against carnage on the main road leading to the school. The students mounted roadblocks in protest of a speeding vehicle that knocked down a teacher of the school over the weekend.
