Member of Parliament of Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum on Monday in a post on facebook announced that he is sponsoring 30 students from his constituency to study engineering at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa.
The news which was widely received left social media users raining praises on the legislator for the gesture to his constituents.
According to Dr Adutwum, the gesture is in line with his long-held objective to obtain 100 engineers and doctors each from the constituency before he leaves Parliament.
In a post on facebook, the MP bid all 30 students he is sponsoring goodbye as they left to school following the reopening of tertiary instituions across the country.
His post read:”Monday, 11th January, 2021.This morning, I bid farewell to 30 students from Bosomtwe who are on their way to University of Mines and Technonoly (UMaT) at Tarkwa. They are going to pursue various courses in Engineering fully funded by me.The excitement on their faces and that of the parents who had assembled in front of my Constituency Office building was palpable.Fees paid, accommodation provided and a bus ready to convey them to Tarkwa, I encouraged them to aim high, study hard, read wide and pursue success.My vision of ensuring that Bosomtwe gets 100 engineers within the next ten years is on course.” Meanwhile the MPs move has received loud cheer on social media with many commending him for what they have described as a great move.
