President Akufo-Addo to commission NABCO recruits today

President Akufo-Addo will today, Wednesday, officially commission recruits who successfully went through an interview for the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) initiative.
The program which was launched by the NPP administration seeks to employ 100,000 of the country’s graduate youth in various sectors of the economy.
Today’s event will see the beneficiaries who went through successful interviews placed to start working.
Ahead of the 2016 general elections, the then opposition campaigned on the back of the high rate of unemployment in the country especially amongst the youth.
Despite receiving many commendations, some section of the Ghanaian populace are of the view that the NABCO initiative is not sustainable but the Nana Addo led government has insisted that the initiative will be sustained to help combat youth unemployment.
What is NaBCo?
The Nation Builder’s Corps was launched in may this year as part of the governments plan to create jobs for unemployed graduates.
The programme is expected to create 100,000 jobs in seven sectors of the economy including health, education, agriculture, and ICT.
It also forms part of government’s commitment towards addressing the high unemployment in the country.
Modules under which the programme will run are Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana.
The programme, which is managed by the office of the President, will focus on alleviating shortfalls in public service delivery.
The beneficiaries will be engaged for three years and they are expected to earn a monthly allowance of GH¢700 each.
