Police Arrest over 20 KNUST students in Violent protests

The Ashanti Regional Police has arrested over twenty students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) over their Monday morning demonstration which led to the destruction of public and private properties.
Speaking to an Accra based station, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Kwame Yeboah Jnr confirmed the arrests.
The students were demonstrating against last Friday’s incident that saw campus security injure their colleague and subsequently arrest 11 students of the University Hall who were later granted bail.
Reports from the Ashanti Region yesterday afternoon indicated that armed military and police personnel had taken over the KNUST campus after the protest which started peacefully led to the destruction of private and public properties.
REGSEC closes down KNUST indefinitely
The Regional Security Council has issued a directive for the University to be closed down indefinitely. Also, all students except foreign studenta arr to vacate the premises of the school before 12 midday today.
