Photos: Six dead including a child in tragic accident at Kwahu-Atibie
Six persons died on the spot including a child in a gory accident that occurred on the Odweanoma mountains at Kwahu-Atibie in the Eastern Region.
According to reports we have gathered, one other person is in critical condition at the Atibie Government Hospital.
The accident is said to have been caused by brake failure of the Hyundai truck with registration no. GW 5638-19 which the six individuals were on board carrying funeral logistics.
Eyewitnesses say the vehicle somersaulted several times on the road when the driver attempted to save it from running into a ditch.
The Municipal Fire Public Relations Officer (PRO), DO III Kwakye Addo who spoke to a local radio station disclosed that the deceased persons were onboard Hyundai Mighty Cargo Truck with registration number GW 5738 – 19 carrying funeral logistics and equipment.
“We had Information that there was an accident on the Kwahu-Atibie road so we quickly rushed there. We saw a Kia Rhino carrying some things like chairs and funeral items. Our Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused by brake failure. We can confirm that three males and a child died instantly. The rest have been rushed to the Atibie government hospital.
The deceased persons include the son of the late brother of Eastern Regional Secretary of ruling NPP whose thanksgiving and memorial service was held over the weekend at Tease, a community in the Afram Plains South District.
