NAM 1 denied bail; faces court today over two charges

The CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, NAM1 has been denied bail by the Ghana Police Service and is likely to be arraigned before a court today.
Nana Appiah Mensah has been charged with two counts of abetment to defraud by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without a licence which goes against banking rules and regulations.
It is believed that Nana Appiah Mensah’s activities led to customers losing close to GHC1.7 billion.
Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited have also been charged with defrauding by false pretence, an act which goes against the Criminal Offences Act, 1960.
Nana Appiah Mensah was whisked into police custody yesterday after he arrived in Ghana after over six months of legal battles in Dubai.
He was denied bail by the Ghana Police Service.
According to the police, the move was to give them time to conclude their investigation.
