Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has confirmed government’s decision to support Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold SC financially as the two teams head to Africa to compete in their respective CAF competitions.
In an exclusive interview with the reigning Television Sports show host of the year,who doubles as the Director of sports for Salt Media GH, Mr Patrick Osei Agyemang , popularly known as Country Songo, Hon Asiamah said government through the sports ministry will give both Kotoko and Ashanti Gold an amount of $350,000 for their African campaign.
” We as a government will always give hope to Ghana sports, President Nana Addo has made it clear”
” Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be entitled to $200,000 for their preparation towards the upcoming CAF champions league, Ashanti Gold who will be participating in the CAF confederations cup will also be given $150,000″ Hon Asiamah said.
When asked about the arrears of bonuses owed the various national teams, Hon. Asiamah said most of the arrears were inherited from the previous administration, for that matter , the government and the ministry of youth and sports are doing everything possible to settle those debt.
