Jean Mensah, Bossman Asare were hand picked to do NPP’s bidding at EC – NDC

A Communications Officer for the Opposition National Democratic Congress, Abass Nurudeen has accused President Akufo-Addo of handpicking the Chairperson and Deputy of the Electoral Commission to help his party rig this years general elections slated for December.

Nurudeen who was reacting to former President Mahama’s comment that the NDC will not accept results of any flawed election accused the the Nana Addo led administration of picking staunch NPP supporters as commissioners of the Electoral Commission.

According to him, the NPP had already planned to remove Charlotte Osei before they were voted into power. He said it was therefore not surprising that her replacement are NPP supporters.

Nurudeen stated that all past Electoral Commissioners and their deputies before Jean Mensah and Asare Bossman discharged their duties in a way that did not leave room to habour thoughts of biases by any party but the current commissioners have made it too clear the stance

The NDC communicator expressed disappointment in President Akufo-Addo and the EC’s resolute decision to conduct a new voters register despite the increasing rate of COVID-19 cases in the country.

“If the President is urging citizens to go out and register for voters ID card in this period then it means he is insensitive to what is happening in the country” – he said on Anopa Bosuo on Salt 95.9 FM with Prof Sam

Nurudeen concluded by saying former President Mahama’s comment did not insinuate that the NDC will instigate violence if it it decides not to accept the election results. He said the NDC will seek redress in a competent court just as the NPP did in 2012.

Meanwhile the Supreme Court has adjourned the NDC’s case against the EC to June 23 to give a verdict.
