Irate NPP youth who invoked curses on party executives have been summoned by Offinso Traditional Council

Supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who invoked curses on party executives using the ‘Offin Abena’ river have been summoned to appear before the Offinso Traditional Council.

They invoked the curses using 1 create of egg, 1 bottle of schnapp, 1 fowl and slaughtered a white sheep as offering to the River god.

It would be recalled that some NPP youth claiming to be supporters of Dr Isaac Yaw Opoku, one of the parliamentary aspirants of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Offinso south constituency in the Ashanti region, invoked curses on any individual or group that attempts to discourage any of the two aspirants contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon Ben Abdalla Bandah.

In their incantations, the leader of the group, Mr Offeh Collins Kingsley a.k.a Hon Bonti, an assembly member for Agyeimpra electoral area said “We invoke a curse on John Boadu, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Ashanti regional chairman, Chairman Wontumi and any NPP party executive if they attempt to declare Ben Abdallah Banda unopposed to prevent any of the two men to contest the incumbent MP. His children, wife and his extended family members must be annihilated”.

In reaction to this on Time FM, the Offinsohene’s linguist, Nana Kwaku Wiafe said, the angry youth erred and have breached the traditional customs of the Offinso land in their incantations.

He said, the Offinso Paramount Chief, Nana Wiafe Akenten (III) perceiving chaos in the upcoming Offinso South parliamentary primaries, sent a delegation to the office of the Ashanti regional chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Wontumi for intervention but have not received a response.

Kyeame Kwaku Wiafe said the supporters did not seek approval to enter into the Offin River from the Traditional Council thus, the said youth will not go unpunished.

On the same Medium, the Offinso Naduasa Chief who doubles as Offinso Baamuhene, Nana Kofi Adu Boahene (l) a.k.a Nana Kings mentioned that, it is prohibited by the Offinso Traditional Council and Asanteman as a whole to call on a deity and invoke cures to seek instant justice.

Nana Baamuhene said a 7 member committee from the council will summon the supporters to appear before them but failed to disclose the exact day.

The Chief advised the youth to use other forms of communicating their grievances like demonstrations rather than invoking curses.
