Former head coach of the Zambia national team Herve Renard says he wants to win the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.
The French gaffer was the Black Stars assistant coach under Claude Le Roy where he helped Ghana to win bronze in the 2008 AFCON hosted in Ghana.
Ghana has not lay hands on the AFCON trophy since 1982 despite reaching the finals on five occasions.
Speaking in an interview with Juliet Bawuah of TV3, Herve Renard stated that he will love to win the continental trophy with the Black Stars.
“Yes I have to come back one day to help one country to win. That country haven’t won it for a longer time and that is your country Ghana. I will love to win this feat with the Black Stars,” he said.
Herve Renard won the 2012 AFCON with the Zambia national team and later led Ivory Coast to beat Ghana in the finals of the 2015 AFCON to win the trophy.
He was later appointed the head coach of the Morocco national team where he qualified them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He guided Morocco to the 2019 AFCON but got eliminated.
Herve Renard is currently the head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team after stints with the Morocco national team came to an end.
