I saw on whatsapp I had been sacked by GFA – Richard ‘Olele’ Kingston

Former Blackstars goalkeeper and goalkeeper’s trainer, Richard Kingston has expressed disappointment in officials of the Ghana Football Association for not giving him the respect due him after the Association dissolved all backroom staff of the various teams.

Olele as he is affectionately called said he did not receive any official communique from the Football Association concerning the dissolution but a rather, a WhatsApp message from a member of the association requesting that he sends his CV and certificates.

According to him, he later saw on social media and on the news that the Association had put together a new management and technical team. He expressed disappointment in the FA’s actions saying;

‘If not for anything, he should have been called or sent a letter to communicate the FA’s decision.’

Olele complained bitterly of how football heroes in this country are treated and disrespected. He added that we do not give them the needed respect and a clear example is the action taken by the GFA on his sack.

Recounting his achievements as the goalkeepers’ trainer for the Blackstars on Max FM, Olele said he had been able to strengthen our goalkeeping department since there had been issues with that department for some time.

According to him he had worked with most of the current goalkeepers including the Richard Ofori who is currently the number one goalkeeper of the team.

In 2017, Olele was appointed Goalkeepers’ trainer for the Blackstars after he had previously served as Ghana’s number one goalkeeper for a couple of years.
