Government has extended the free water policy to the end of the year.
The extension was announced in a statement signed by the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecelia Dapaah today.
“The general public is hereby informed that H.E. the President of Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the policy on free water for all Ghanaians for another three months from October 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020.”
“This is to enable Ghanaians to continue with the protocols especially the washing of hands under running water to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.” -the statement added
Government however, appealed to Ghanaians to use water judiciously.
“The Ministry appeals to consumers to use water judiciously in the observance of the protocols.”
The policy was implemented by president Akufo-Addo to reduce the financial burden on Ghanaians as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ghanaians will now enjoy an additional extension to the end of the year after the extension which was due to end in July was extended by another three months.
