Ghana’s Consulate in New York calls for information on deceased coronavirus citizens
The Ghana Consulate in New York has requested that persons with information about Ghanaians who have died in the state notify its office.
The US currently has the highest number of recorded deaths from the Corona Virus.
According to the Consulate-General, they are aware a number of Ghanaians have lost their lives in the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The missions, in a statement, did not give the exact number of Ghanaians who have passed away from the virus.
The Consulate disclosed that efforts are underway to track and ensure the welfare of Ghanaians amid the pandemic.
The Ghana Permanent Mission and Consulate-General also assured the Ghanaian community that “it remains available to all Ghanaians in need of critical consular assistance.”
There have been at least 203,123 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in New York State, with more than 104,000 in New York City.
Over 10,000 persons with the disease have died in New York alone.
