The headmistress of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Senior High School (KNUST SHS) has been interdicted following the death of a student at her school.
The student died on Tuesday evening.
Narrating how their colleague died, the students said the school authorities ignored their call for help for their colleague who was suffering from ulcer.
The student said they believed this was so because the school authorities thought the boy had contracted the coronavirus.
For that reason, the students demonstrated on Tuesday evening and vandalised the headmistress’ car.
A statement from the Ghana Education Service (GES) said the Regional Director of Education in the Ashanti Region will take over her duties.
Meanwhile, academic activities are expected to resume at the school after the protests.
The Ashanti Regional Director of the GES, Mary Owusu Achiaw, says investigations have begun into the matter.
