Election 2020: Osofo Kyiri Abosom rains curses on Jean Mensah and Deputies over New Voters Register

The Presidential Candidate for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has rained curses on the EC chair and her deputies.

According to the Pastor, should the EC fail to conduct the voters registration exercise, the EC chair and her deputies will all die.

‘I personally called Jean Mensah to caution her about the new voters register. I told her and her executives that if they fail to put together the new register, thunder will strike them”.

“I support EC’s decision to compile a new register because we all know the current register is not good and cannot be used if we want to conduct a free and fair election in December” – he told Prof Sam on Anopa Bosuo on Salt 95.9 FM

The Pastor said the current voters register is bloated to an extent that the number of Ghanaians who vote during elections are few as compared to foreigners meaning our leaders are decided for us by persons who are not Ghanaians.

Kyiri Abosom also lauded the President’s decision to keep the borders closed indefinitely. He said the decision has a great impact on the new register because he believes a particular party would want to smuggle foreigners into the country to write their names.

The Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voters’ register has been met with mixed reactions from the political front.

While some political parties and policy think tanks believe the old register can be used for this year’s elections, others are of the view that the EC’s decision to compile a new register is in the right direction.

Despite the opposition, the EC was scheduled to embark on the exercise in April 2020, but it called it off following the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease in the country.

The EC subsequently said, it will adopt safety measures if the times comes for the registration exercise to commence.
