The Ghana Health Service says because of logistical challenges at their labs, test results for samples taken for COVID-19 tests are not received on time.
The service said this has made it difficult for people to have their results on time.
There have been many concerns about the delay in releasing of test results by the Ghana Health Service.
There has been several reports of persons who have had their samples taken but have not received their results yet. Some Ghanaians who were evacuated from the UK have raised concerns about how they are yet to receive their results after their samples were taken days back.
But the Director of the GHS, Dr Patrick Aboagye said “We have experienced some delays in the lab, that is because we’ve had a few logistical challenges. The lab requires a lot of PCR,… and then the test kits. There is a global scramble for them sometimes when you have the money you will not always have one but we know that by end of this week we are having a consignment arriving hopefully next week we will start ramping up the test and reduce the delay.”
He has also advised Ghanaians to self isolate the moment their samples are taken because they may be potential positives of the virus.
