Coronavirus: Parliament reject reports that Two MPs and 13 parliamentary staff have tested positive

Parliament has rejected reports that some members of the parliamentary service and members of parliament have tested positive for the novel Corona virus.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo and addressed to all editors, the Parliamentary service said results for all persons who have been tested for the virus have not yet been received.

The statement stated: “The confidentiality protocol of testing for COVID-19 is that, those who test positive will be called directly by the testing team and be taken through the necessary steps for quarantine and treatment. Officially, Parliament is unaware of any such call and has no official figures from the National COVID-19 response team.”

There were reports on Tuesday afternoon [May 26] that Two members of parliament and thirteen staff of the parliamentary service had tested positive for the virus.
