Coronavirus: KMA shuts down Kumasi Central Market hours after opening
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has ordered the closure of the Kumasi Central market hours after President Akufo-Addo lifted the partial lockdown imposed on Greater Accra and Kumasi.
We are reliably told the closure of the market was due to the inability of traders to observe social distancing protocols.
This website monitored a report by Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako who was at the market this morning.
” There are many people at the market, they are not wearing gloves and masks and no social distancing,” Bediako reported from the Central Market.
President Akufo- Aidoo in his seventh address to the nation on Sunday, April 19, 2020 lifted the three-week-old partial lockdown imposed on Accra and Kumasi.
The President was quick to add that all other protocols were to be observed including social distancing and wearing of face masks.
The ban on social gatherings has however not been lifted. Churches, schools, clubs and pubs are to remain closed.
