Asante Akyem North: Conserve electricity- MP tells Assembly

The Asante Akyem north member of parliament and former deputy minister for railways and development Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi has called on the municipal assembly members and citizens of Asante Akyem north to save energy by properly managing the use of streetlights in the municipality.

Speaking to Akwasi Boduah host of Salt FM’s Anopa Bosuo morning show, the law maker said it is inappropriate to see streetlights left on 24hrs when that power could have been saved.

He stressed the need to properly engage the use of photocell devices on street lights so as to save energy.

‘Nobody leaves lights on in the day, it is a bad practise and makes people see us as not thoughtful or advance, the municipal assembly should get all streetlights in the municipality connected to a photocell device so that the energy wasted day time could be saved’, he said.

The honourable member gave out 25 pieces of the photocell device and called on the assembly members to come for them at the premise of Salt FM to install them on all street lights in their respective electoral areas.

He however lambasted the municipal assembly for sleeping on the job and called for them to sit up.
