A group calling itself Concerned Youth of Asante-Asokore in the Sekyere District has at a press conference called on President Nana Addo to appoint the next District Chief Executive of the area from Asokore.
The group argues that per an agreement entered by the two main towns and their respective surrounding villages in the district, Effiduase and Asokore, it’s the turn of the people of Asokore to present the DCE for the Sekyere East.
This call comes hours after the president sacked Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo who had been the DCE for the district since Nana Addo’s government took office.
Addressing the press, Mr Oppong Nkrumah, the leader for the Asante-Asokore Concerned Youth appealed to the President to appoint a native of Asokore as customs demands.
“We need a DCE from Asante- Asokore but not Effiduase” he said at a news conference.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Mary Boatemaa Marfo as the Chief Executive of the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.
In a letter written by Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kwasi Boateng Adjei, the decision by the President, in accordance with Article 243(3)(b) of the 1992 Constitution, takes immediate effect.
It is believed that the decision was influenced by a recent tape said to have been leaked by the DCE’s aide.
Mary Boatemaa Marfo remained tight-lipped on the purported leaked tape of her campaigning for electorates to vote skirt and blouse in the December 7 elections.
Investigations by Akoma FM traced the source of the leaked tape to one Owusu Nkrumah, an aide to Mary Boatemaa.
“Yes I am the source of the leaked tape,” Owusu admitted on Akoma FM‘s morning show, GhanAkoma on Tuesday, September 22.
“I recorded and leaked the tape because madam Mary Boatemaa whom I’ve served for several years has not been treating me fairly.”
