Akufo-Addo lifts ban on religious activities; nite clubs, pubs still closed

President Akufo-Addo has in his tenth address to the nation eased restrictions imposed on religious activities in the country.

The President in March imposed a ban on social gatherings which included religious activities, funerals, parties etc. as a measure to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

But in his address to the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020, the President said after careful consultation with all stakeholders, government has decided to lift the ban restricting religious activities.

During the address, the President directed religious activities to commence June 5, 2020, with only a maximum of 100 persons in a church or mosque.
