Agogo: Mahama promises herdsmen land for cattle-grazing [Audio]

Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, says the next NDC administration under his leadership will acquire 10,000 to 20,000 hectares of grazing land for herdsmen and their cattle to end the long lasting disagreement that has resulted in series of clashes between farmers and Fulani herdsmen.

The former President said he believes the move will bring an end to the frequent clashes between both parties in the Agogo area.

Mr. Mahama made the promise when he visited the Asante-Akyem North Constituency as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region which ended last Sunday.

The NDC’s flagbearer maintained his government will also ensure that the cattle grazing land has water for the livestock.

“We know of the existing disagreement between the Fulanis and the Farmers. If you take a look at our 2016 manifesto, we indicated that we will acquire lands in areas that are not populated so we move the Fulani’s and their families there in order to bring an end to this feud.” – Mr. Mahama said when he addressed Party supporters at Agogo

Prior to addressing the mini rally in Agogo, the Presidential Candidate paid a courtesy call on Nana Kwame Akuoku Sarpong, the Agogomanhene at his Palace in Agogo.
